After escapting the vortex, hang out at the edge of the platform so you can easily avoid the skulls moving out in a straight line. The longer you wait to get out of the Skull Vortex, the more difficult it will be to get out without getting hit. As soon as you can, try to find a gap in the vortex that you can pass through without getting hit by skulls. PRO TIP: Try to hang out in the 'middle ring' section of the platform when this goes off. Players that are hit by a skull will take a high amount of damage. Upon reaching the center of the platform, the skulls will fly back towards the outside edges of the platform but this time in a straight line path. These skulls will vortex themselves to the center of the platform. Malthael will summon many skulls on the outer edge of the platform. In addition, Malthael stops using Death Fog and Soul Nova. Malthael retains the following abilities from Phase 1: You will know the transition has occurred once Malthael begins using a slightly different ability set. This transition usually happens at after dealing 25% damage to Malthael's health. Unlike other multi-phase bosses, Malthael does not stop combat with a cutscene to trigger the next phase.
